Greetings from Novosibirsk!
It has been a little while since our last update, yet much has happened.
First, let us introduce the newest member of our family, Nicholas Gabriel Murray. Dan was really shooting for Geddy Lee Murray, but I had to put my foot down on that one. We went to court early Monday morning with a positive outcome! It was a little more intense than the Kayla's court hearing, but overall, everything went well. Kayla had some separation anxiety while we were in court, but Nina took her for a walk and to a cafe while we were in court which seemed to help her out.
Kayla met Nick yesterday. We were outside most of the time. It was wonderful seeing Nick again. He had just come out of his nap (just as Kayla had), so both he and Kayla were a little out of sorts. He would cry if we tried to put him on one of the playground toys. Kayla was a little disinterested at first and would play by herself.
There was a point in the interaction where Kayla warmed up to Nick and we actually saw a very mature, older sister come out. She held his hand as we walked from one playground to another. She would ask him, "are you ok?" when he cried. The two were playing on a merry-go-round type of thing, when some of the other kids came out to play. They all came over to us and pretty soon all of them on the merry-go-round. This was very overwhelming to Kayla, however, Nick got pretty excited and totally opened up after that point.
So, we had one child wanting to go home and the other running all over the place. We were glad to see both emotions with Nick (crying, excited). We always thought that Kayla would be able to give Nick a run for his money; however, we now have a sense of the different ways boys play vs girls. Thus our weight loss plan is now in place.
I will be attaching some pictures very soon.

Hi Guys....I love the pictures of Kayla and Nick holding hands. So glad to hear that the court hearing went well even if it was more intense this time.
ReplyDeleteYes, it sounds like your life will take a slightly different style now with both a girl and a boy. But I think you will enjoy the journey. Looking forward to more pictures as the four of you do more things together.
Sue, so glad you put your foot down on "Getty Lee"!!!!!
Kiss them both for me. Barb
Congratulations! Welcome to the wonderful world of boys. I'm sure Kayla and Nick will have great fun together and I'm glad the court hearing went well. When will you be bringing all three kids (Dan included) home?
ReplyDeleteEnjoy. We miss you guys. Kelly, Mike, Wriggs and Donovan (now going by Sharkboy)
I'll have to share D's new name with Kayla. She keeps talking about Sharkboy's birthday. We plan to be in MSP on 9/12. It feels weird - I have time to read (at least for now).
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! When I first saw the picture of Kayla holding Nick's hand I thought to myself, she is going to make a great big sister! Thank you so much for allowing us all to follow your journey with you! Keep posting!
ReplyDeleteI am so excited for you!! I agree thank you for sharing with us. Love to you all!!
